Video copilot tutorials

As part of my research i was trying to find a way to create a 3d glowing line like the one used in the ipod nano advert, i came across this website www.videocopilot.net which is a tutorial website run by a special fx designer called Andrew Kramer, the website specializes in after effects editing but also has some 3d.

The website is really useful because all the tutorials are in video format and are taught step by step watching on screen what Andrew is doing as he talks through the tutorial, and this is much more effective than following a step by step guide that someone has written because he explains the reason for doing certain things and this makes you understand exactly what you are doing as well as just following instructions, the website also provides downloads of all the specific videos and images you will need for the tutorials which is a real help because watching editing done to a certain video and trying to follow along while editing a different video can make the tutorial hard to follow first time around.

the website also has a blog updated by Andrew where he discusses work going on around him and what he is doing, and also his opinions on work that other people are doing like movies and the special effects used and he gives his opinions on them which are interesting to hear from another professional.

Overall it is a very helpful site that i would highly recommend checking out.
